The new trigger sprayer, SP05™ R, is the company’s second product to feature its LifeCycleTM Technology.
RICHMOND, Va. – June 15, 2022 – Silgan Dispensing, a global leader in the design, development and distribution of highly engineered pumps and sprayers in the home, health and beauty markets, today announces the launch of SP05TM R trigger sprayer, its latest product made with LifeCycleTM Technology.
SP05 TM R builds upon the company’s broad portfolio of trigger sprayers. It’s also the second product utilizing Silgan Dispensing’s LifeCycleTM Technology – a revolutionary plastic spring portfolio aimed at enhancing sustainability and improving recyclability for dispensing solutions. In September, the company announced its first product incorporating the technology, Pearl® 2, a next-generation airless system.
At the heart of Silgan Dispensing’s LifeCycleTM technology is a patented plastic spring that enables the removal of non-recyclable materials and metal found in more conventional dispensing solutions. By using these innovative springs, the dispenser can be made almost entirely of a single polyolefin, making the pump or sprayer ultimately more compatible with today’s recycling streams.

SP05 TM R
The SP05TM R trigger sprayer combines exceptional performance, ultimate versatility, and enhanced sustainability in a pleasing and ergonomic design. This new sprayer is highly compatible with a broad array of formulas and can be made with a child resistant feature if desired. Available with either a spray or foaming nozzle, SP05 TM R is a highly customizable dispensing solution making it the ideal choice for brands in the home, garden, auto, laundry, and air care markets.
“With SP05TM R, we took everything that was great about the original and made it even more sustainable. We understand that sustainability continues to be a top expectation when it comes to packaging for many consumers. With this new plastic spring, the trigger sprayer along with the bottle can be placed in the recycling bin, eliminating the prior need to separate the two components before disposing,” said Ferro.
SP05TM R is recognized by RecyClass as being compatible with both the HDPE and PET recycling streams. Results were based on third-party laboratory testing using the Recyclability Evaluation Protocol for HDPE. RecyClass recognition applies when a clear PP trigger is used as well as when other conditions are met. The compatibility with PET recycling has been assessed by a third-party certification body recognized by RecyClass and confirmed the separability behavior of this PP trigger during the PET recycling process. Finally, SP05TM R is also compatible with the PP recycling stream as its design is in line with the mono-material approach enabling high recycling rates and high quality recyclate.
Pearl® 2
Announced at last year’s Luxe Pack Monaco, Pearl® 2 will be available for purchase starting this July. In addition to being the company’s first product produced with LifeCycleTM technology, Pearl® 2 received a AAA+ ‘Completely Recyclable’ rating by the Institute Cyclos-HTP for the material used in the polypropylene (PP) package. The certification affirms its recyclability in select Western European countries*. Pearl® 2 also received an approval letter from RecyClass stating its compatibility with the HDPE recycling stream.
Both SP05TM R and Pearl® 2 will be available for demonstration at the PCD & ADF Expo, which is being held at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles on June 29 and 30.
