Replay Connector has been ideated for easy refilling of small portable bottles featuring Silgan’s new Pirouette SNI13 screw pump technology.
Monaco, September 30, 2024 – Silgan Dispensing, a global leader in the design, development, and distribution of highly engineered pumps and sprayers in the fragrance, beauty, personal care, healthcare, and home and garden markets, announces the launch of Replay™ Connector, an all-plastic refill system using the company’s patented LifeCycle™ Technology, and the launch of Melodie Pirouette in a new smaller SNI 13 bottle neck format. Silgan Dispensing is debuting Replay Connector and Melodie Pirouette SNI13 at Luxe Pack Monaco from September 30-October 2 at booth RC14.
Where Sustainability and Convenience Meet
Replay™ Connector brings a new breath to Silgan’s sustainable fragrance solutions. Following the launch of Replay in 2023, the Replay Connector is specifically designed to fit on SNI (screw neck international) 15 bottle necks for retail fragrance packs such as the Pirouette™ Collection. The Replay Connector is smaller in size than the original Replay with a 24-410 closure, meant for larger refill bottles ranging from 100 – 300ml, and therefore fits perfectly on 50 – 100ml retail packs from an aesthetic and dimensional perspective. These newest launches allow consumers to fill travel sized fragrances directly from their favorite fragrance at home making on-the-go perfumes more sustainable and convenient.
Fragrance for travel and on-the-go is a consumer trend, particularly for consumers’ most used, favorite fragrance. Based on proprietary research, this year Silgan surveyed 375 consumers from Brazil, China, France, and the United States on their fragrance refill habits and usage. These consumers stated that, if an easier refill system was available for small portable fragrance bottles, 90% would use their favorite fragrance more and would have an improved opinion on the fragrance brand leading to increased usage and loyalty.
“The consumer research is extremely valuable in determining user habits and providing solutions for where there are gaps in the market. An on-the-go solution is not new to fragrance but finding a convenient way to refill a travel size bottle is,” stated Sandy Gregory, Global Marketing Director Fragrance.
Gregory continued, “Considering that a typical 10ml bottle will be empty after maximum six weeks of use on-the-go, it is important to provide an easy refill solution, and, specifically, with a pump that provides exactly the same spray experience the consumer has when applying their fragrance at home. Furthermore, it is essential to use a pump that is robust enough to be used over and over again. Until now travel packs have not received the attention they deserve considering that consumers carry these on them all day long. It’s about time that the sprayer used for these smaller formats is in line with the high-end positioning of the brand.”
Consumers currently have a variety of ways to refill their current smaller size bottles from a funnel to spraying from the retail bottle into the little travel bottle. A 2023 focus group made clear that these methods are perceived as unsatisfactory due to the wastefulness and potential risks of spilling. The Replay Connector elevates the experience by offering:
- Secure, efficient, and clean refilling
- No waste, nor spilling; and
- Easy and intuitive: just push down and stops automatically when full.
Suitable Sizing
Often, on-the-go travel sizes are thought to be used mostly during air travel. With common restrictions on liquid amounts for carry-ons and not wanting to risk damaging delicate glass in a checked bag, consumers have begun leaning into purchasing travel-sized versions of their favorite fragrance to take with them. With the smaller, lighter format, the convenience of refreshing your perfume mid-day seemed to come with ease. Three out of four consumers have admitted to bringing a smaller portable pack to easily carry with them on-the-go for all day-to-day activities.
Most travel sized bottles are sold in a 10ml format. Silgan’s offering is paired with the Pirouette Technology to continuously refill and take on-the-go. Silgan was the pioneer in screw pumps with their Pirouette technology and the SNI15 has become a standard for brands looking to offer a refillable fragrance. To accompany the new Replay Connector Launch, Silgan also has launched Melodie Pirouette Travel with an SNI13 screw closure. Silgan has partnered with several bottle manufacturers to ensure that this new on-the-go format will be readily available to match their respective pump. This allows for a seamless and slender fit on small glass vials without compromising Silgan’s signature spray performance. Not only can consumers now easily take their favorite fragrance with them, they also will have the same high-end spray experience that they have when applying their favorite fragrance in the home.
